Back in the saddle again.. after a twenty year hiatus I spent a weekday afternoon under and epic sky trotting through Southeast Queensland Country at the Spicers Hidden Vale property.
I admit I was a tad nervous, but I said a little prayer to my horseriding forefathers to ask for some horse wisdom as I had a hungry one who’d continually stop and consume the local flora. Every time he’d bend down for a feast I feared a face plant into the sod below. Someone must have been listening out of pitty because I eventually got into it and mastered the reigns so to speak.
Ok, mastered might be generous, but I did get the hang of it enough to enjoy my surroundings. I think I quadrupled my Kangaroo in the wild sightings (wild vs zoo - very important to differentiate) and everytime I couldn’t help but point, like my 7year self would have done on the horse, and exclaim ‘roo!’ as though it was my first one. Not sure when that will get old, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
